• That the Citizens of Chatham County deserve to feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods and commercial areas, especially our children and elderly.
• That Violent Crime has a negative impact on tourism and the economic viability of our community and must be dealt with aggressively.
• That the District Attorney should lead discussion and work to foster community collaboration in finding innovative solutions to the crime problem in Chatham County, including addressing issues concerning juvenile prosecution and rehabilitation and the re-entry of repeat and violent adult offenders.
• That the Office of the District Attorney and the Child Support Recovery Unit must be customer service friendly and efficiently operated according to modern management principles and the best use of modern technology.
• That attention should be given to increasing the speed by which criminal cases are processed through the Office of the District Attorney through reorganization of the management of warrants, the screening of cases and the processing of discovery documents
• That all Citizens should feel equally protected by the law and the discretion of the DA’s Office in what cases it selects and charges it brings, regardless of where they live or from where they have come.
